The travellers land in a nice happy world. They register as visitors using pseudonyms chosen by Fai (Big puppy- Kurogane, Little puppy- Syaoran, Big kitty- Fai, Little kitty- Sakura) then get attacked by an "Oni" (Some sort of dark demon monster)
They apply for jobs to earn some money, to find out more about the world and where the feather might be.
K+Sy become Oni slayers and F+S open a cafe called "Cats Eyes".
They meet another slaying couple: Yuzuriha Nekoi (a 14y/o girl) and Kanasagi Shiyu (older man) with their dog.
Syaoran is injured by the Oni. Fai has begun mentioning and using magic again. Kurogane hates his new nickname and Sakura is curious about her relationship with Syaoran: She knows she cares for him and that he is doing all this for her but can't remember their relationship. When she accidently does remember a memory about Syaoran then she blacks out and her memory is removed because that is the price he paid to save her life.
The Cherry blossom world is plagued by the Oni who are appearing in new places with new strange breeds. F&K have just visited Erii (information booth lady) to find information as they are surrounded by a bunch of Oni.
Fai is hurt during the battle and cryptically talks about not being able to die.
A new pair of Oni Slayers appear: Ryuuoh, an eager young fighting man and Souma, a serene and classy woman (Kurogane knows a Souma as his Princess' Bodyguard but this one does not recognize him)
The Oni attack again, F and K must try to find the person who has seen this new breed of Oni for more information.
Kurogane takes on Syaoran as his pupil in sword fighting and battle techniques. Syaoran buys a special new sword but cannot use it until he is ready.
Fai buys a piano but can't play it! Ohura, the sultry singer from Clover bar comes to visit Sakura at their cafe when everyone else is out and Mokona falls into a strange deep sleep. Ohura uses magic to make Sakura sing a song from the bottom of her heart to find out her secrets. She then transmits that data to a strange scientific looking center.
The Oni have begun attacking non slayers: normal people and that never happens! The people of Outo are scared.
Syaoran continues his training, he must rely less on his eyes. Kurogane gives him the assignment of going home blindfolded. Soon he learns to sense objects and people with his other senses. Suddenly a strange force appears in Syaorans visionless perception of the world, it is inanimate and yet it is attacking him! Ryuuoh arrives and removes his blindfold so that they can fight this Oni. They chat together afterwards and become friends. Ryuuoh wants to show Syaoran something on the way home so they take a detour.
Fai and Kurogane go to the Clover bar to meet the person who saw the new Oni: it's Ohura and she tells them that she saw a handsome young man controlling the Oni. Something she said makes Fai think that the Oni are created purposefuly and the town hall must know about this already. F and K also understand that this young man probably has Sakura's feather... Sure enough, Sakura is attracted and begins sleepwalking to the clock tower where the young man is summoning many Oni.
Syaoran and Ryuuoh are already there since he wanted to show him his favorite beautiful cherry tree. Yuzihura, on her way to buy cake from Sakura, spots the zombiefied girl and follows her.
Syaoran manages to wake Sakura enough for her to point to the Cherry tree and the young man with her feather before she faints. Syaoran and Ryuuoh run towards the plaza and see other Oni slayers getting beaten by powerful oni with new powers. The young man pulls off his hood and reveals himself. He is Seishirou and somehow already knows Syaoran.
Syaoran explains that Seishirou is the man who taught him to fight. Syaoran remembers that the more he hides from Sakura thinking he's protecting her, the more he actually hurts her as she needs his trust and wants to be there for him.
The Oni slayers all get together to discuss priorities: hunting down the highest level Oni (I-1) and this new breed of Oni.
Syaoran and Kurogane go to the town hall and try to get answers out of the kiosk girl but she can't say much, she does tell them where they could get the information from and confirms that the I-1 Oni does exist but she won't acknowledge the new breed of Oni. They set off to visit a mysterious tower, inside is a big cave with stone stairways filled with Oni. Syaoran gets to practice and use his sword for the first time.
Back at the cafe, Sakura want to do all she can for Fai because she knows that one day he will sacrifice things for her. She faints with exhaustion. Fai and Mokona care for her.
In the tower, behind a big door, is a warm lit room with Sumomo and Kokoto, two little girls who are ... huge! They explain that the new breed of Oni (Seishirou) is not the I-1 Oni but an outsider who is 'interfering'.
Mokona talks to Fai, he has sensed that behind Fai's wide smiles, his thoughts are elsewhere and that Syaoran, Kurogane and Fai all share a feeling of loneliness that he can understand. Fai is touched that the creature knows his heart so well. They both hope to slowly get rid of solitude through friendship and Sakura's warm heart. Mokona and Fai hug as a stranger walks in and interrupts them. Fai immediatly senses that something is wrong. It's Seishirou.
Sumomo and Kokoto alert Kurogane and Syaoran: "The Interferer" is at the Cat's Eyes cafe. They run to save their friends.
Meanwhile, back at the cafe, Seishirou has sensed that Fai has magic powers but Fai doesn't want to use them. Seishirou wants to get rid of all the Oni slayers in Outo world and that means destroying Kurogane and Syaoran. Fai asks Mokona to guard Sakura and take note of all that was said to recount it to the others. Mokona watches as Fai fights the strong Oni conjured up with the power of the feather by Seishirou. After stating that "he's not sure he wants to die anymore as living isn't so bad after all", Fai is absorbed into an Oni and 'dies'.
Sakura awakens and goes into 'oh my feather' trance mode, Mokona faints. Seishirou affects the world of Outo using the feather, he makes all the inhabitants dissapear except for our main characters, Ohura (the singer), and the two pairs of Oni slayers (Ryuuoh, Yuzihura etc) who are suddenly surrounded by dozens of identical Oni.
By the time Syaoran and Kurogane get back to Cat's Eyes cafe, Sakura has wandered off following her feather and the place has been half destroyed. Syaoran decides that he must face Seishirou and fight him, even if he will lose. So he sets off for the Clock tower...
He and Seishirou reminisce about their first meeting. Syaoran was trying to save himself from theives who wanted to take a book he had just bought for his father. Seishirou helped him and in turn requested to read the book. Syaoran read it to him because it was in a foreign language. The book was about Vampires, Seishirou is hunting them because they may posses the key to eternal life. They both share a weakness in their right eye. Young Syaoran asked Seishirou to teach him how to fight.
Back in the world of Outo, Seishirou summons Oni from fallen cherry blossom petals. He explains that he wants to meet the I-1 Oni because he heard it has eternal life and so he must kill off all the other Oni slayers. Syaoran fights as Sakura looks on and is snapped out of her trance. Syaoran is pierced with a magical lance and begins to crumble. Sakura runs to embrace him knowing she will disintegrate with him. They 'die' in each others arms.
Seishirou merges the Oni into one big dragon Oni. Kurogane gets to use his new sword in fighting the dragon. Seishirou does the feather trick again, and this time, all the characters dissapear from Outo world...
Edonis Country
Syaoran wakes up to a tapping sound. He is inside an electronic winged glass egg. Fai is knocking on the glass and helps him out. They are in a room full of these eggs with people inside. Sakura wakes up too and the pair have a quick silent 'I'm happy that you are alive! Did you really die hugging me?' moment. Kurogane and Mokona are floating in their eggs still fast asleep.
Fai leads Syaoran and Sakura towards the doorway which opens to reveal a gigantic theme park. He explains that Outo was only a virtual game world (hence the Oni being tracked by the town hall) and as he speaks, their memories of arriving come back to them: They teleported into Edonis World, into this theme park, landed in the eggs, feel asleep and had that part of their memory removed.
The theme park manageress, Chitose explains that people visit the virtual world to have fun and fight Oni but recently things have gone wrong and the eggs' electronic display is showing 'state of emergency'.
Suddenly, everything goes dark, there is a ball of light and Seishirou, riding his Oni Dragon, appears in the theme park sky. Another ball of energy brings our Oni slayers back into the reality of Edonis world: They are shocked to be still in their Outo virtual reality forms! Kurogane and Mokona are with them. Kurogane doesn't really care where they are or how they got there so he goes straight into battle with Seishirou (to avenge his friends - he thinks they are all dead). The slayers and Mokona meet up with Fai, S and S: cue hugging and happiness. They decide to fight Seishirou together since they still have their Outo world weapons.
Back to the Seishirou vs Kurogane sword duel. Seishirou has got out his glasses and has no more cloak (Kurogane cut it off). He looks gorgeous but he's not playing fair since he's using magic to fight. Mokona belches out a warning note that lands between the duelers. Kurogane sees that his friends are alive and feels rather sheepish for getting upset. Seishirou calls off the duel (Kurogane had lost his motivation anyway), wrecks up the theme park a bit more then summons the I-1 Oni: it's Ohura!
Seishirou's power is out of control: The digital world of outo and the theme park begin to merge. He brings Oni into the real world. All the characters unite to fight back. Just as Syaoran decides to duel his former teacher, Seishirou vanishes and moves on to another world with the power of the feather. The friends vanquish the final Onis then transport to the next world.
