Chapter 5: The meeting of allies.
In war, the only propaganda that can truly enforce peace is the sight of millions of white crosses in any battlefield graveyard.
Location: Russian naval yard, Novyi Port
Time: 1:23am local time
Sakura and Syaoran, along with Tomoyo, Naoko and Rita were awaiting in the back of a truck at the naval station, completely unaware that the situation at hand. The tragic lighting around the building mad everything very hard to see as they waited just to get underway.
Sakura was wrapped deeply in old cloth and gowns, nobody had washed since the start of the war, Sakura felt a little sick of the smell that was making her dizzy. Syaoran was a little different; he had commandeered a uniform standard army overcoat. These old overcoats were last seen in the 1940’s as cheap and efficient ways of covering Russia’s troops in the fight with Germany. They were not at all destroyed, just disappeared amongst the poor beggars looking for heat. They were smelly and covered in all kinds of dirt and dry mud.
Steadily they waited for the truck to leave. When it finally did, because of a technical glitch of a flat tyre, the gang were ready to go out into the cold forest ahead, but first they had to go through the township of Nova Port. It was best described as a dirty ad low city, crawling with refugees and locals, space was at a rarity and people often took the fighting to the streets over the supply of food. Health and fresh water were almost unheard of in this ton, as like other small villages which became cities to these former residences of other counties.
Heat was something that was abundant, rubbish cans often burnt anything that couldn’t be eaten, books, children’s toys, old wood form the docks, anything that could give heat, but unfortunately, some crazy people burnt explosives in desperate attempts to create heat, which killed hundreds in the past, and in some cases destroyed whole towns. The whole camp where the army attempted to proved shelter to the homeless millions was just as bad, racist movements meant that if you weren’t liked, you wouldn’t have shelter much longer. There was no police enforcement, no official control and no law to control this behaviour.
Many people started to take their anger for this decent in living standards on anyone of Japanese or Chinese appearance, a notable change from society values that were accomplished in 300 years, reversed and destroyed in just 2.  The injustice of this overpopulation of people and desperation for the basic essentials had only made Russia’s plight to help it neighbours former citizens find comfort in freedom.
This attempt only made the predicament worse, Russia’s lands had been nuked into submission, notably all the western states of Russia, were entirely levelled. As the same with china’s east coast, the Korean peninsula and the north Siberian front was pretty much littered with craters and disease ridden townships from civil outbreaks of in the most basic illnesses.
The basic standard of living, if it could be called that was pretty much wasting away to die somewhere, and hoping the cold snow would cover the remains. This became an often case across this land. Snow covered all, and in the east and west; that’s how the dead were buried. Sakura looked out the back of the army truck, nothing like the original thoughts of a small fishing village with a understandably huge dockyard nearby.
This image was replaced with the disgusting reality of this war. Strews up and down the main roadway was the strewn of a shattered society. Class was nothing, everyone was starving and poor. Theft, fraud and everything that was considered illegal in when Sakura was a child was considered normal fashion here. A terrible shame for the children who were brought up in this shameful existence. Nice houses were demolished, public buildings laid waste. This wasn’t the reality of Sakura’s dream. But then again, no war is a dream, only a painful nightmare.
“Syaoran-kun, look at this place. It’s revolting and scary” Tomoyo noted,
“Unfortunately, this is reality to these people. No threat, were taking you to the last place that’s safe” a Russian corporal spoke to then in Japanese.
“Where is that?” Sakura asked,
“Sound by about 200 km or so, SPARTAN control base”
Syaoran did it in his head that taking 50km an hour on this old truck, he could probably sleep, having not sleep much while on the missile submarine Konevlov he made the rumble and shake of his seat not feel as bad as he contemplated. Sakura fell asleep on Tomoyo’s lap, by accident, Tomoyo didn’t seam to mind. Naoko and Rita who remained completely out of the picture on the submarine decided to follow suit. The trip would mean they would be 4 hours until then reached SPARTAN.
Location: The white house, Washington D.C, United Federation of American Empire States
Time: 6:00am
Although it wasn’t his best hour, he still had to present the briefing to the president of the UFAES, a position that was almost as holy as the pope, which have to be, seeing that this same man killed millions to produce a new religion abolishing others. The general was the security general in charge of the Clow Card Weapons project; the design team from Roswell that found ways to capture this magic and applied it into producing the most powerful weapons of the war.
This was both a succuss and a fail, most of what Yue once defined has cards under his command; had been converted into new age maritime  weapons for the navy and some conversions for the air force, but in terms of ground weapons, it came too late before Roswell was bombed into submission. Fortunately for him, the events didn’t cause him to be transferred to the front line in Europe.
The president liked his work and was considering sending him to Japan before he picked The 2nd missile command’s General, who had destroyed half of Europe in his vile campaign in Romania, then down into as far as Iraq to claimed 3 million people or ‘magic beings’ into prisoners or killed them in the face of resistance. But now he wished he kept his decision of sending his other general.
“Well the situation is this Mr. President, in a swipe attack, they took out the entire base, we have understanding that they attempted to capture Sakura and her subordinate officers; Naoko, Rita and Tomoyo, as well as her fiancé Syaoran”
“What success do they have?” the president spoke,
“None sir, their helicopter was shot down, or ran out of fuel. We recovered a helicopter that crashed on a small island off the Japanese Islands of Okinawa. He found the burnt remains of 5 girls and 1 boy, but some knacks believe that’s not them…”
“The air base? It was nuked?” spoke the 1st air force commander
“Defined attack from the east and west, one missile was launched here” the presenter pointed to a position 200 miles off the coast of Tokyo “This missile wasn’t underwater launched, so we have defined belief that it was one of their missile cruisers”
“That far away from port?” the 1st admiral in room spoke loudly “The Russians don’t have the freaking resources to send a task force to Japan! They barely have a fleet left at all!”
“The admiral is right, General” the 1st General spoke out “We creamed their fleets of missile boats and proper fighting ships when we took out all their major ports 18 months ago. If they have anything to play with, this is they very first I’ve heard of it”
“Perhaps a submarine?” the 3rd General spoke,
“Not possible, we know they have submarines, but only their Charlies and Alfa’s. But, since when does an Alfa fire nuclear missiles?” the 2nd admiral informed,
“A another missile boat?” the 2nd General spoke,
“That’s bull, there’s none left” the 1st Admiral spoke “They don’t have a single Delta or Typhoon left in their fleet
“Non that we know of” interrupted a voice from the door,
“Ahh, Morning chief, your late”
The Chief Officer of the Central intelligence agency, the one-time agent on the field in Japan, was now the top boss in the entire agency. Near legend for his find, the president kept him under his wing and rewarded him for is next mission that eventually lead to the battle of Hong Kong.
Simple known as ‘chief’ by the staff generals in the white house; His main job was boss of the FBI and CIA meant a total control over the Empire’s information and intelligence gathering. His day was normally busy with meetings about resistant groups and daily reports about movement in and out of the borders at sea. When he was confirmed that there was a resistant movement, cult, religious group practicing or even worse, magic beings still around; he gave the order for the FBI to handle it.
The FBI itself was diverted from its original purpose before the beginning of the war, most of its tasks now were done at the CIA. The FBI and the presidential secret service were formed into one service, which the residents of this empire feared for their lives. This new and haunting secret police had almost mythical status, working in the night; this police force moved to eliminate suspects and permitted torture in bases similar to the one in Japan. This form of enforcing the law throughout the empire became a example of human discouragement to stand up and freedom of speech.
“So, chief; what wonderful explanation have you got?” the president asked,
“Mr. President, in the last couple of days, my people have been monitoring recent events…” the chief spoke
“Of course you have, who wouldn’t?!” the 1st general loudly spoke “A Swipe attack on the prison containing our most valuable prisoner! We first had unconformable reports that Sakura and her people were killed in the main blast from the nuclear bombs. Then we have another report that her badly burnt corpse was found in Okinawa, but heaven and hell, the Russians nuke that before we could get a DNA sample off them”
“Which means?” The President enquired,
The chief sat down and said “The general’s assessment is right; we have no idea if the Russians have Sakura, or deployed a dummy to make believe they have them, or if they outright killed her”
“Why would they just kill the target? There were signs and reports of an invasion force of 1000 troops trying to take the base. That wouldn’t be needed in any case” spoke the 2nd General
“Unless they took Sakura” the chief spoke up as he went up from his chair.
“You have a better explanation?” the 1st Admiral spoke
“Yes, fortunately I do” the chief ordered the lower ranked official to place a memory card into a computer in the table.
The table that was in the situation room had been replaced from a old oak, and replaced with a  2 million dollar television screen under glass, the centre of the table had a flat screen monitor that often was used to display maps and animated movements of enemy. Every seat had a good view of the screen as the overhead lights was dimmed and the lights near the walls.
“At 18:00 hours, April 3rd local time, a large deployment of bombers and strike fighters left the airbases, here and here, we counted 205 contacts, 50 fighters, 150 medium tonnage strike bombers, and 5 aircraft that we’ve never seen before in any description”
“So, what’s so incredible about that?” the air force.
“Apparently, there is; these 5 planes can fly at mach 6.8, at almost twice the air ceiling of our interceptor fighters in that region, and its stealth. It carries the Russian Mark-2 Minjoiur Electromagnetic bomb, these are modified from the standards mark-2’s and are stealth capable, thus far we have renamed them mark-3”
“Oh god, these people want to start the end of world?” the 1st general spoke
“Our current understanding is that they use there speed to outgun the radar system, the weird thing about this fighter is that it is capable of being seen on radar when it decelerates below mark 3, a mechanical problem that we believe is why the new plane has never been used in combat bombings of major cities in the inner American empire”
“Where is this getting?” the 2nd general questioned the chief,
“This aircraft obviously was sent forward, but didn’t decelerate when it neared Tomada, it did a radar scan of the region and flew out to the Pacific ocean, then came around and fired several E-Bombs within 25 miles of the base”
“Blinding the enemy…” the Admiral spoke out of turn,
“Exactly, the radar stations at this base are down, nobody can tell what happened, except for the satellite radar system which could detect the planes decelerating in the pacific. Two of the three fighters headed home, two other went back to the pacific and circled around until the main attack levelled the base’s north end, obvious Intel was needed to determine the prisoner’s holding bay, as to avoid hitting them. Obvious signs that this was a prison break…”
“So they have them?” the president spoke,
“Not exactly, after a the first strike force was sent through, about 10 twin rotor helicopter transports from the British army and 20 mid range attack helicopters from the Chinese 4th army regiments landed and took to the grounds, the battle wasn’t going well for the invaders, our forces backed and held ground. But then this…”
“Then this?” the president spoke,
“The Russians fired 2 missiles from a land base we couldn’t identify, and was launched at sea, we believe now that the 4th was launched from the stealth fighters. But then one from each source was fired another nuclear missile at Okinawa. This backs our theory that we conducted just after the end of the battle of Hong Kong” the chief explained “the Russians obviously are willing to scarify recourses in any battle, they also destroy the evidence when they fail a mission, shortly after the nukes landed in Tomoda and Okinawa, all three of the stealth fighters in the pacific self destructed”
“They destroyed their own planes?” the president found hard to believe,
“First rule of losing: cover up the evidence” the 2nd general spoke
“So in hence sight, the Russians failed to steal Sakura?”
“That’s our belief” the chief declared “But there is one more piece of that makes no sense, the presence of 3 Russian submarines just north of the Bering Strait. Two Alfa’s and a Charlie, and then this”
“The loss of a Los Angles class boat, in the Bering strait?” the 1st Admiral was normal to assume such stupidity in intelligence gathering, but still it was a serious affair.
“The staff should understand that this next piece of info might completely disregard the conventions that we follow”
“Go ahead” the President spoke out.
“Mr President, our boat fought the two Russian Alfa’s, that were parked in behind an ice cap on this small island” the chief zoomed the electric map and pointed the island. “When our boat opened fire, there were 2 Russian Alfa’s, we successfully destroyed the first Alfa, but then a Charlie II showed up and shot ours up into pieces, just before the submarine was destroyed, the black box put in a buoy and launched to the surface, the Russians didn’t see this, fortunately and we had a seaplane recover it”
“And?”
“The Sonar detected a 3rd Russian submarine, larger then a Tycoon missile boat heading out of the Bering straight which is extremely odd because on the sonar, it literally appeared out of nowhere”
“That’s bullsh…” the 3rd Admiral loudly enforced the opinion that all the in the room admirals had.
“Admiral, we calculated the time between this and the attack in Japan, a ship could sail at 20 knots, and have time to carefully go through the strait and be on time to be on that Sonar screen, expect this one showed up almost 300 miles away, when the range on this certain boat is 450 miles”
“Meaning the ship was silent for 150 miles?”
“No, this submarine was travelling at close to 30 knots, but strangely it was just starting its propellers, which could make rotations for 5 knots at their power”
“Hang on!” an admiral raised his voice “are you talking about a stealth submarine the size of a missile boat?!”
“It’s a possibility”
The Admirals and Generals started to argue, this to them was absolute trash, but so was Sakura’s magic to them when they first heard of it.
“Chief; there is no way that is possible! The Russians don’t have the places anymore to even build normal submarines, let alone a stealth missile boat”
“Then this should interest you, we recovered one of the three Stealth fighters, all the proper tech is destroyed, but what we got yesterday has markings and mechanical tags with Soviet Era labels Circa 1982 to 1987; during the Ronald Reagan Administration and after Détente”
“What?”
“Made in the good old USSR” The chief joked,

Location: a dirty road 10 miles from SPARTAN
Time: 5:25am Local time.
It wasn’t the first time Sakura felt fear, but this was a new kind of fear, more like acceptation and nerve, but it felt like there was something that she didn’t expect form all of this; comfort. Syaoran had stayed awake the entire trip, looking out into the dark winter forest, the road was a narrow one way road that allowed passage for trucks as big as this.
The base wasn’t far way now, it was said to be hard to see at night, and just as hard to see in the day, up head was a mountain range and towards what they said was an abandoned ammo dump. Sakura and Tomoyo looked out of the back and looked towards the roadway road block they past without any stopping. Sakura then looked at the soldiers guarding them, all had readied automatic rifles, bigger ones then the Americans carried. Even anti-air missile launchers, being held by 2 soldiers near the back. Sakura was worried until,
“Here”
Sakura was given a flask of hot chocolate and it was amazingly still warm, even after 4 hours on the road. Syaoran looked at the man that gave it to him, a Captain of the British army, and odd appearance considering they were in Russia. Tomoyo thanked the guard on Sakura’s Behalf.
“Not a problem madam, names Bentley, Captain James Bentley, 402nd special air services regiment, British Army”
“And I’m Gerrit, sergeant major Gerrit Leanny, 3rd Regimental Special Forces, Royal Danish Army, Demark” Spoke the man siting opposite to the British Captain on the truck.
Tomoyo decide to respond like they did “Tomoyo, Tomoyo Daidouji, Friend to Sakura, Japan”
The two men laughed.
“Very well Miss Daidouji, I’m glad you and your friends are wake, we are about to arrive at SPARTAN” the Danish solider replied
“What is that” Naoko Enquired,
“SPARTAN is a base that is designed to hide our top secret projects, like the MIG-39 we used in your ‘prison-break’ a few days back.”
“This place is the most well furnished place left in the entire of the free world, it was built in the 1983 in some major plan or something, anyway, the Americans never found out about SPARTAN for the continuum that you were growing p, and even now in this war”
“The Americans shouldn’t have any idea where you are, your escape was fool proof to the best possible advantages”
“If we are in Russia: Then how com you two are here?” Rita asked.
“Because this base is also acting as a base of operations for a lot of us” the British officer replied.
“I see”
“Lively bunch you 5 are, more then we expected from you” another solider spoke,
Sakura turned around to see the person who spoke, it was a Russian with one of the two anti-air missile bazookas.
“Hoee?” Sakura answered as she saw the weapon he was carrying.
“Don’t threat Sakura, I fire this weapon, we’d all be dead”
That didn’t really make Sakura feel anymore safer then before. Sakura and guns she declared don’t mix well. Tomoyo was pretty much the same on the issue. The other solders grinned as Sakura slowly nodded.
“Don’t worry, we don’t want to kill you, or your friends”
Sakura found some relief from this and drank her hot chocolate. This calm was short lived as the thundering sound of two Foxbat Mig-25’s flew less then a hundred feet over them, despite not being at mach speed, they still made a harrowing high pitched noise that rang in your ear and deafened you for a second.
“Hoeeeeeeeee!!!!!” Sakura screamed,
Sakura had catapulted her hot chocolate out of the thermo flask into the air and back onto her, and the British officer nearby. The soldiers in the truck laughed at Sakura’s predictive aptitude to her surroundings, Syoaran sighed in embarrassment and Tomoyo giggled.
“I see you’re a little jumpy Sakura, don’t worry, were all like that sometimes, jets passing over like that should be old stuff now that you’ve heard it”
“I suppose so” Sakura whispered.
As she tried to sip some when another Mig-25 rumbled over in the other direction, this time it was at mach speed and shocked Sakura’s nerves even more, spilling even more hot chocolate on Tomoyo and two soldiers.
“Then again Captain, some people take longer to adjust” Tomoyo spoke, also a little jumpy from both fly by’s
“Indeed…”
“Where are all those planes going? I don’t see any lights for a landing strip” Syaoran asked.
“SPARTAN is an airbase as well; a unique one at that its runways are all is submerged 15 centimetres under water”
“What?”
“We are about to enter the main tunnel way; take a last whiff of the air, that’s going to be the last fresh breath of cold Siberian air you’ll ever have to have” the Russian solider with the Anti-Air Missile launcher spoke to Sakura and her friends.
Sakura didn’t really take an understanding until the truck suddenly decreased speed and dove down a steep ramp that went down a few metres. It was more a trench covered with camo nets then its description of a tunnel. The roadways wound towards a small line of hills that sat at the base of the mountain behind them. The lake went right up to the hills and oddly shaped folds on the banks of the lake. Sakura then noticed that this area had more to it then it could appear to have.
The convoy of trucks arrived to a gate, solid steel in its construction, guarded by to M-80 tanks and one more M-80 at the end of this road at the fork in the road. Syaoran noticed that everything here was rusting badly, the trench was reinforced cement and steel trusses were painted brown and black with the addition of the cover net, now had no holes expect ones to vent the diesel smoke from all the heavy weapons guarding this entry.
“Entry authorised, let them through” a guard spoke to a sentry at the gates.
About 8 men all then opened the swing doorway at the entry, four a door; they pushed it along the track in the ground and opened up a lamp lit roadway. The entire length of road had barricades and machine gun nests along the 250 meter road to the intersection. The trucks then slowly crawled down the pathway and further down to the intersection.
The trucks lumbered by the waiting tank aimed at the door. In case any enemy managed to break it down they would have a hard time getting down the road. Sakura and Tomoyo looked out the back, from a behind view, dozens of soldiers of a variety of nations patrolled the base road to the row of buildings that lined the roadway.
Then the convoy entered a hanger sized tunnel, five trucks could drive side by side with easy. But it had eight tanks guarding the entry. Obvious signs that the army controlling this base were taking any attempt of attack as a serious threat. The path the trucks took, went along a series of doors on the right side of the tunnel, one was left open, it relieved a Mig-39 and two Mig-25’s parked facing towards the trucks.
There was now an apparent the reason for such a wide tunnel. This tunnel also acted as a taxiway to the air force’s various planes. Down towards the next intersection, the exact Mig-25 that first shook up Sakura was taxing down to the opened doors of the hanger containing the other three planes. Sakura and Syaoran looked out in amazement at the design of this place; it was massive inside and amazingly couldn’t be seen from the outside.
“Impressive isn’t it?” the British officer spoke to Sakura and Syaoran “Probably the best secret that we have, SPARTAN is the largest fully operational air force and army base built by the lake, it 99% coverage of its base under the hill range and up the side of the mountain behind us, its also the last comfortable place left in the Russian frontier, decked out for the top brass of the old soviet leaders in times crisis, its great we finally gave it a use!”
“I see, I see, hoee…” Sakura staring at the amount of guns that were being carried, obvious that she wasn’t going to leaving here if she wanted too. “Were about near the lift, take a left here corporal.
The driver, a corporal in the German army turned the truck down. The view revealed another door that lead directly to the shore of the bank. It was lit up with red lights that blinked and travelled in a pattern from the other side of the lake down to the end of the runway.
Sakura blinked a few times when she saw another red light above the trees in the sky moving downwards. An alarm of some description rang and everyone suddenly headed out of the way of the door. The light then relieved to be another jet. It slowly touched down on the lake; it suddenly slowed the plane as it quickly approached the hanger doors.
It eventually slowed down and was slow enough not to concern anyone. In turned as soon as it passed through the doors and taxied right, revealing it was a French Euro fighter; something Sakura obviously wouldn’t know but the British army captain would and solid everyone else, but this fact didn’t matter, there were dozens of different planes from a dozen more countries.
Tomoyo was amazed at this place; it was like it was straight of the latest ‘James Bond’ movie. Expect it was ragged and aged, simple notices of age and design proved that this was reality, imprint paint of soviet era flags and the national flag of that time were every which way you could look. But they also looked new in some areas.
“Were here, lift 2: this shaft will take you to the more top secret rooms of this place, which include the meeting rooms, and for now, your quarters”
Sakura wasn’t to hesitate about the move, but she at least knew she could sleep some precious few hours until morning. But the problem is what was going to happen to her after she woke up this morning, only her best guess could aid her now.
Tomoyo was less concerned on the matter that her chest and legs were starting to feel numb on the account that of the exposure to the north Russian winter. The soldiers helped them all out and escorted them down to the lift, oddly to Sakura; they weren’t pointing their guns at her head, something that she was so use to when she was imprisoned not to long ago. Something like that took sometime to get use to.
“Were we going” Tomoyo enquired the officers.
“Well, to your quarters, from there you’ll have the opportunity to sleep off your travel lag”
“When after that?” Sakura asked,
“You will be asked to a meeting at 1:30pm today to discuss the details of the last three days, anything else?”
“No, Ja…Captain Sir” Tomoyo thanked him and walked with Sakura into the elevator.
Sakura, with Tomoyo, Syaoran, Naoko and Rita, were escorted in the elevator, once the doors were closed, a sergeant major removed a key from his pocket and inserted it into the bottom of the panel. They were currently on G3, the top was E2 and the bottom was B10. He turned the key then all the lights on the panel flashed and went blank. He then pressed Q2, standing for ‘Quarters 2’ which was 4 floors up, out of the 10 more before E2.
The lift started to rise up to the floor. The lift was big enough for 15 soldiers to get in, with Sakura and her friends, plus the 3 guards, there was plenty of room to move. Tomoyo started to quietly shuffle towards Sakura.
“There nice people Sakura-Chan, but I’m worried about it” Tomoyo whispered very quietly in to her ear
“You’re not alone on that Tomoyo-Chan” Sakura replied quietly.
Syaoran leaned on the back wall and looked at the ground tiredly; it’d been a while since he had some decent shut eye. Naoko walked to Syaoran and looked at his solid eyes looking directly into space. Confused and some bit scared, she decided it was best to remain out of the way. Rita looked at everyone, making an impression on the crew of the Konevlov was a task no to friendly, after cooking the meals for the crew for 2 straight days.
Rita was too tired to continue working, or talking for that matter, she cared for some sleep in her own bed for once. As Sakura waited for the lift to stop on the level, she turned to look at the people around her, three of the guards kept with close clench their rifles, at the ready. The looked like they’d not take any complaints or any compliments either. The hard look on their faces showed no mercy for the enemy Sakura thought was her.
Tomoyo walked over and leaned on her friend for a second and spoke,
“Don’t worry; I’m sure it’ll be alright” Tomoyo whispered.
This helped Sakura calm down. Syaoran perked her head up, quietly surprising Naoko whom was still starring at him.
“Level, Q2” the solider spoke.
The doors opened momentarily and relieved a passage that lead down to a intersection in the hallway. The hallways were silver and black with a red line on the top and bottom kick boards, the ground had a grating like metal 2 metres in front of the lift, the rest was solid marble, polished marble in fact. It had dirty on it in some areas, but it was clean.
“This way, a brief tour of this level wouldn’t hurt”
Sakura was quickly reminded of the interior of the prison that her friends stayed in for 2 years, but this was different, it was like the officer quarters of the Konevlov but bigger. Syaoran looked in amazement at the room around the corner, it was more like the lounge room that Sakura had in her old home.
It was mainly a library; it maintained red, sliver and black as the room colours, but the furniture was dark blue. it was decked with various models; aircraft, battleships, even spacecrafts from Russian history, as well as a few from various other nations, and a few models that didn’t come from anywhere. There were a few computer terminals, old but well maintained.
“Sakura, this way to your quarters”
Sakura and the gang followed the officer and looked at a door that could be locked from the outside; there was one on the end, but no lock, just one from the inside.
“Sakura, Syaoran, Tomoyo, Naoko, Rita” the officer opened the door “these are your new quarters: Room 5, level Q2”
In compassion to rooms Sakura had been to, it was neat; it had 8 single beds, with warm heating, and a window view of the lake, from looking outside before, she could now recognise the cliff part that she was now standing behind, the lake was big and from the reflection of the light, you could see 3 runways criss-crossing each other at the centre. The room was warm and had soft beds, Sakura felt if was a hotel room an not a military installation like it appeared downstairs in the hanger area.
“Your joking right, this is too good to be true” Syaoran spoke has he checked the foot lockers at the end of the beds
Inside each wardrobe was 2 uniforms standard with the Russian military, and some clothes to wear when not doing anything.
“Were not joking Syaoran, these quarters would be used in the event of nuclear war by the government. Seeing there is no Russian government, anymore; these rooms are spare, and seeing you are here, why not use them?”
“Still…”
“Syaoran, please. You will be filled in on the issues later, in the meantime I suggest you sleep, the bathroom is back down the other end, its highly suggested that you don’t wander downstairs via the lift, you are bound to forget were you are quickly”
The officer nodded and left Sakura and the group to themselves. Sakura heard them walk off, but didn’t hear any locks. Sakura instead locked the room’s door from he inside and huddled the group together
“Sakura-Chan, are you feeling alright?” Rita asked,
“Im alright, but listen, everyone; if we don’t get told why we are here, then don’t under any circumstance tell them anything they want to know, got it?”
Everyone was considering the options, if they didn’t answer, would they get worse treatment then before or not? Best though that they agreed with Sakura. With that, the gang decided to turn in for sleep. Without warning to Syaoran, all the girls started changing, into the warm sleeping garments that were in the foot lockers.
Syaoran who suddenly felt out of place faced the dilemma of having 4 girls sleeping in the same room, also changing like he wasn’t there. He spun on his heel 180 degrees and out towards the window, that had a minor reflection of what was happening behind him.
He shut his eyes before Tomoyo did something he completely wished he wouldn’t see.
Naoko and Rita realised that he was there and looked at him; he had his eyes shut tight, like if they were welded in place. Oblivious doing everything in his natural power to prevent going into there privacy; which they accidentally forgot about him being there. Sakura and Tomoyo turned also when their senses realised who they forgot about.
Sakura being the closest to him put on her gown and walked to Syaoran. Sakura touched him on the solder.
“Its okay, I’m fine” Sakura spoke gently
Syaoran took her word for it and turned, still eyes shut until he was sure that he was facing Sakura. He slowly open his eyes, but something of a concern caught the in the corner of his eye was Naoko still changing, with speed he shut it and left his right eye open at Sakura only
“Syaoran-kun? You feeling alright?
Syaoran thought for another second, trying to think about what to say, in the best way he could think of
“Sakura-Chan, don’t you think I shouldn’t be here when you’re changing?” knowing it wasn’t the best thing to say either.
Sakura turned and saw why he shut his left eye, embarrassed in looking at it in Syaoran’s perspective, Sakura tried to figure out the best way of putting it. Instead, she kissed him on the cheek. Syaoran went full blush red and closed both eyes.
“That’s for not looking, thanks” Sakura whispered,
Syaoran completely didn’t know what was going on, but it’d been a while since Sakura kissed him, Let alone made any contact. But something was missing in that was normally felt. Syaoran thought about it. Syaoran had opened his eyes when Sakura kissed him on the cheek and hadn’t realised he had been looking at Tomoyo, who hadn’t finished putting on her shirt, Syaoran turned, stumbled and hit the carpet ground.
“Syaoran-kun! Are you okay?!” Tomoyo spoke,
“I didn’t see anything! I swear!” Syaoran answered loudly,
Tomoyo giggled and replied “I’m sorry about that”
“It’s okay Syaoran-kun! We know you didn’t mean it!” Sakura giggling “Come on, we need sleep, we wont look when you change”
“I’ll go outside” Syaoran grabbed his stuff and ran out the door tripping over the bottom of the door,
Tomoyo and Sakura looked at each other in embarrassment, Naoko and Rita looked more confused then ever.
“Syaoran-kun hasn’t acted like this since you first met him” Tomoyo noted “I wonder if he’s lost the old touch?”
“What are you saying!?” Sakura said frustrated
“Only kidding” Tomoyo giggled, Sakura didn’t get it.
“I’ll never understand those two” Rita said quietly to Naoko
Naoko quietly nodded to her friend.
After some time, everyone finally gave in to some sleep, it was nice and quiet, and the light couldn’t be seen yet. An advantage to the Russian winter, having the sun appear very little every day, which meant that sleep was possible for 18 hours a day. Sakura rubbed her body into the warm thick sheets and lay rested looking at Syaoran who was looking directly back at Sakura. Sakura felt relaxed and drifted off feeling safe and secure, for the first time in a very long time.

Time: 12:30pm local
Four hours past quickly, barely enough time for Sakura and her friends to recover from their travelling ordeal, but the comfort factor was able to provide them with at least some more energy. Sakura was blissfully left in a dream state, most probably dreaming of home, and her old life. She felt a nerve pinch and suddenly came awake. Sakura slowly woke at the sound of ruffling sheets. Sakura opened her eyes a slit to see, it was bright, then dark.
Sakura opened them a bit more to reveal the sheets and the heavy blanket covering her. Sakura slowly lifted herself up, rubbing her right eye and leaning heavily on her left arm. Sakura’s hair was completely messed up, some off her overgrown fringe covering her eyes, obvious sign that she slept well.
When Sakura could finally see properly, she scanned the room; to her right side, Tomoyo was sleeping peacefully, but unlike her normal sleeping posture, she was on her side, fact that the bed suited her well. Naoko and Rita on the other side of Sakura and Tomoyo, were sleeping well; Rita was almost unseen as her cover was almost over her head.
Sakura checked if she could breathe, no cause for alarm as Sakura heard her very faint snore from Rita, something that Tomoyo use to have when she was ten, it usually meant that Tomoyo was comfortable, the same thing applied here with Rita.
Syaoran on the other hand was completely different to everyone else. Sakura suddenly took notice to him as he turned over again; he was sleeping in the bed on Sakura’s left, but badly. Sakura got out of bed and looked at him carefully, he was sweating and his expression on his face was of frustration and anger. Sakura walked to his bedside and kneed down to his level.
Sakura didn’t know what to do, Syaoran started to breathe a little faster and his skin turned reddish pink. Sakura worried and slowly put her hand forward to touch his arm that was nearest to her. Sakura’s heartbeat increased as Sakura slowly approached his hand, Sakura touched it, it felt of a warmish completion, but very humid and dry skin. As in a instant, Syaoran snatched her hand. He opened his eyes wide open and saw Sakura about to scream.
Sakura got her insides shaken up and stirred her body to slow down. Her skin went pure white for half a second. Syaoran stared at her for a full 10 seconds, before breathing through his mouth finally, heavily breathing like he was underwater for hours, or being choked. Syaoran slowly let go of Sakura’s hand, whom too was slowing her system after a big shock to it. Finally after a minute of silence,
“Syaoran-kun, are you alright?!” Sakura whispered,
Syaoran-kun took a second and answered “I’m fine, just a nightmare”
“Are you sure your alright, you were worked up”
“I’m sorry I worried you Sakura-Chan, I was just thinking and then…”
Sakura motioned him to stop talking,
“Do you want to talk, for a little while?” Sakura quietly whispered
“Here?”
“Nobody else is awake”
Syaoran couldn’t resit the moment, and allowed Sakura up next to him. Sakura got off the floor and lay on the bed along side Syaoran
Syaoran stared “About earlier, when you and the others were changing…”
“I know, I’m sorry about that Syaoran, about thank you for being trying to help”
Syaoran felt confused. Sakura also had a tough time dealing with the issue. Syaoan was only human, and this was a normal thing for males his age. Syaoran just didn’t understand it well, which made Sakura glad that he tried.
Syaoran broke the silence of the moment, “Please tell me what your feeling Sakura-Chan, you seemed a little quiet on something”
“Well, I’ve been thinking about these people, what if there like the Americans?”
“I had the same suspicion about them before, but I think we can trust them” Syaoran responded,
“Maybe they can help us”
“Help us with what?”
“Well, getting our life back to normal” Sakura spoke
“Sakura-Chan, our live isn’t normal, not anymore at least”
“We need to try, we acted normal, kept our magic a secret like always”
“We did, and look what happened! One simple mistake and we lost everything!”
Sakura burrowed in and looked at herself, wanting to cry at Syaoran’s outburst. Syaoran put himself in a complex situation with Sakura, something that he did enough when they were capturing cards. But now was intensively difficult,
“Syaoran-kun?” Sakura sobbed “Was this world all my fault?”
Syaoran couldn’t answer that question, on one hand, yes; because Sakura accidentally relieved magic to the world, it set in motion events that changed their and the entire world. On the other hand, it wasn’t; Sakura could’ve known she was being watched, and Sakura couldn’t known they would believe the person.
“It’s not your fault Sakura-Chan, its nobody’s”
“Please! Don’t be so nice!!” Sakura clearly was sobbing tears.
Syaoran couldn’t stand it anymore, he hugged her. Sakura’s face was dug into his chest. Sakura sniffed as she cried even more. Syaoran stroked her auburn hair with his free hand. Sakura felt warm and comfortable feeling his gentle heartbeat of pure gold soothing her pain. Something that Sakura achieved with Syaoran when she first met him. It was now helping her cope.
“Its not your fault, and I’m sure everything will be alright” Syaoran whispered into her ear.
Without even noticing, nor to Sakura or Syaoran, Tomoyo was awakening by the sound of Sakura crying, not thought her ears, but through her heart; she could feel Sakura was crying real tears of sadness. Tomoyo turned into the relative direction of Sakura’s bed, but beyond that was Sakura laying at Syaoran’s side, half-hugging him, smiling a bit more now that Sakura was asleep again.
“Good work, Li-kun” Tomoyo whispered to herself in satisfaction that Syaoran helped Sakura calm her fears.
Tomoyo smiled as she turned over and slept a few more winks.

Location: SPARTAN base
Time: 3:00pm
The group slowly started to wake up after a long, but comforting sleep, none of them felt this good and well rested for a long time. Sakura and Syaoran, whom were still asleep; remained together on the same bed, only Tomoyo knew the real story, Naoko and Rita were left in awe; this was something that they never thought of Syaoran, or even Sakura. Sakura was still hugging him and Syaoran was lying on his back. Obvious black lines that were tears remained on Sakura’s innocent face.
Syaoran has trying to cover Sakura with his arm, unaware that he and Sakura were been watched on by their friends. Tomoyo restrained herself from shouting some hilarious remark, understanding her friend’s predicament before hand. Tomoyo instead motioned the other two to get changed while Syaoran and Sakura were still asleep.
“Come on you two, let them sleep in, we’ll get ready and wait for them in the library”
Rita and Naoko looked at themselves and agreed with a slight nod.
“Besides, we can’t have Syaoran passing out at us changing”
Naoko and Rita nodded again. The three girls proceeded to their footlockers at the end of beds, any which on, it didn’t matter. Inside was; a uniform, an overcoat, shoes that fit their size, and a few other things; towels, and other essentials.
“It’s like a hotel almost, maybe their expecting something out of all this” Naoko said absently looking at her new clothes, an army dress uniform.
“From the looks of it, yes” Tomoyo replied “I don’t think they would kidnap us unless there was a reason”
“Anything would explain this treatment” Rita spoke fitting her tall frame into a slightly shorter uniform top.
“Tight!” Naoko tried to put on a top, oblivious
Without any fortunate luck, Syaoran started to come about. Sakura was still asleep, but Syaoran started to here some strange things he really wished he could block his ears. Only before he attempted to do he realise his predicament; Sakura was using his right arm and chest as a pillow, with his left hand has holding her back.
If Tomoyo turned to look, she’d automatically notice that he was awake and hearing. So all he could wish is that he could only hear the clothes and zips, and nothing else, unfortunately, his luck doesn’t apply to the laws of Tomoyo and fashion. Who continued to complain about the uniform fitting her.
“These uniforms are two small! Were they designed for kids?” Tomoyo spoke,
“I think they took our height, weight measurements from two years ago” Naoko spoke,
“I think so, my pants are loose thought, blame my tubby self back then” Tomoyo giggled,
“You weren’t tubby!” Rita spoke
“You think so?” Tomoyo asked
“No, you had a terrific figure” Naoko spoke “What made you think otherwise?”
Syaoran was pretending everything that he wasn’t hearing this, we hoped to god that Sakura would wake up naturally and stop this.
“You remember Eriol-kun?” Tomoyo said reluctantly,
“Yes”
“I was kinda in the same partnership with him like Sakura-Chan is with Syaoran-kun”
Naoko and Rita looked at the aforementioned pair on the bed, one sleeping, and one supposably sleeping. The reference didn’t provide the correct metaphor for Tomoyo and Eriol’s relationship, but it provided an example of their bond together.
“Obliviously we should’ve of hung around you more often” Rita spoke,
The girls giggled.
Syaoran blushed deep red. He provide himself everything; every inch of his training to prevent the worst outcome. A hard thing for someone who didn’t really know much in this field.
“Anyway” Rita continued “how do they expect to us to where this stuff?”
“Lemme look at the label” Tomoyo spoke “Naoko-Chan can you thought me your top”
“With pleasure, it’s too tight to wear!”
Syaoran had a cold nerve go down his back. That wasn’t a good sign at all to any male. He tried to simulate pain, and got rid of it. It was painful enough to hear this in his condition, he couldn’t turn over and he couldn’t block his ears. Was it a dream or nightmare? Syaoran oped nightmare.
“Please Sakura-Chan! Hurry up sleeping in and wake up!!!” he thought to himself,
“No wonder!” Tomoyo announced to the others, “It says small, size 6-8 only” Tomoyo turns to a footlocker and picks up another uniform and reads the labels “This is better, Medium, size 10-12”
“I see; they didn’t know what our sizes are, so they put some different uniforms in.” Naoko concluded something that Rita and Tomoyo had already figured.
“Oh well, time to change again” Tomoyo giggled at the mistakes.
The girl’s proceeded to change their uniforms and underlays to the more comfortable size.
“Anyway, you didn’t answer my question Tomoyo-Chan; what does Eriol-kun have to do with you being tubby?”
“Well you know how he cooks so well?”
“Yea…” Rita agreeing as if she knew the next sentence,
“Well, let’s say I enjoyed his food a little too much” Tomoyo started to giggle,
“I see” Rita and Naoko joined giggling “But you always looked great, especially in the outfits you designed for yourself and Sakura”
“You sure, what about that time when we all went down to Okinawa in the spring?” Tomoyo spoke ‘I felt terrible all that week; it felt full all the time”
Syaoran ‘knew’ this all too well, way too well to be helping him to preventing exposing himself. He remembered how beautiful Sakura and Tomoyo looked in their bathing suits.
“It didn’t show though, I thought you had a great figure that time
The girls finished getting
“But Sakura-Chan, how can she keep that figure?” Naoko spoke
Syaoran’s breaking point was near the limits, he had put up with enough torture already to make him mental. Now they were hitting something a little close to home.
“I think it’s because of all that exercise with cheerleading and when Sakura-Chan was capturing the Clow Cards”
“I guess so, you two done yet”
“Finally…” Syaoran sighed some relief in his head
“Yep, just let me get the jackets Tomoyo-Chan” Naoko spoke
“Okay, let’s wait for these two in the library”
Tomoyo, Rita and Naoko filed out of the room and closed the door. Syaoran finally breathed for the first time in 15 minutes, deep heavy breaths. he finally could scratch his nose; he moved the hand that was supporting Sakura’s lean towards him and with that let her fall of the bed. Syaoran quickly went to catch her, instead went down onto Sakura instead. Sakura suddenly woke up and realised where she was going.
“Aye!!!” both yelped as they fell,
The landed on the inexpertly on soft side carpet on the floor.
“Are you alright Sakura-Chan?”
“I’m alright Syaoran-Kun, huh…why are you sweating?” Sakura spoke as Syaoran got up standing, confused by his reddish face and swear visible on his face.
“You don’t want to know” Syaoran said helping Sakura off the floor, “Lets say it was another product of Tomoyo’s torture routine”
Sakura stared at him for a second confused and then smiled and nodded. Syaoran not all more confused, but understood that Sakura got the idea.
“So do you want me to go this time?” Sakura replied “I’ll let you change first, seeing that you’ve had enough torture”
“No I’ll let you change ahead of me, its cold, I don’t want you catching colds now” Syaoran spoke and headed for the door.
“Okay, but you can change if you want still”
Syaoran looked at Sakura a little weirdly;
“We can both change at the same time right, we did before we were imprisoned, and I know you’re not going to hurt me, your too sweet too”
“What did you say?!” Syaoran spoke aloud
Sakura just giggled and went to her footlocker. Syaoran did the same and faced 180 degrees away from Sakura. He tried to remember when there was a reason he and Sakura had to change at the same time, then he realised the situation, it was a few weeks before that day, in fact it was in the mountains at Tomoyo’s winter house.
It was only because they didn’t want to make a noise, enough to wake up there friends in the other room, it resulted in Sakura and Syaoran trusting each other. Fortunately Tomoyo wasn’t up, and to this day, she has never known about it.
He finished quickly changing; he wasn’t entirely comfortable with someone else in his room.
Location: Camp SPARTAN
Time local: 18:50 hours
Despite waiting around for almost 4 hours thinking about nothing but for time to hurry up, Sakura still wasn’t calm enough to approach this meeting with a level head. One on hand, she could end up in prison for denying her actual title given, on the other; Sakura could accidentally make a promise that couldn’t be kept.
Sakura was about to come face to face with the top brass of this army, whoever they were. It was becoming a fact that the Russians couldn’t possibly be in control, or the leaders, the army’s of 12 other countries dominated the base and stationed so I was 4 troops per 10 square metres, tight security indeed.
Syaoran had fixed his uniform up and straightened the side strap holding up the front. It wasn’t a design of any military, it was more like a space suit then anything else, embedded in navy blue, lined with gold and white. The turtle neck collar was tight around the neck, but it fit well. Sakura was more worried about the concerning fact that she in a strange place with many guns that could blow her head off. Tomoyo did the same, and remained quiet.
A knock came to the door, and without an answer, 4 soldiers in black uniform walked in, each one carried a high powered Mac 145 assault rifle, no guessing what that’d do there bodies. Sakura fringed and hid behind Tomoyo. Syaoran looked around to Sakura who less then a second ago was just standing next to her. He looked behind and saw that Rika and Naoko did the same behind him.
In walked a general. He was an old man, past his age; his chest was adorned with medals of honour, bravery and duty. He was the old dog of battle, age did him no favours though, weary he looked in a sleeker looking navy blue uniform similar to their’s. Sakura stepped forward first and uncourtly saluted him.
“Sakura, Master of Cards, Sir!”
The general chuckled and looked at there collars for a second, Sakura wondered why, then the General spoke
“Major Sakura, Major Syaoran, Lieutenant Tomoyo, Lieutenant Rita, Lieutenant Naoko, come this way”
They stood stooped, and thought of the exact same question
“We have Rank? Since when did we join their army?”
The general walked out, the group followed pondering, and suddenly noticed the medal on the white strap, Sakura and Syaoran both had a Gold star with a laurel wreath around it, and everyone else had a twin silver Bar with a gold star in the centre. They proceeded to the end of a corridor and found a kind of car, 5 floors up., everyone got in and looked out of a window.
The doors closed, and sealed. Sakura worried as usual and proceeded to hide behind a person not willing to put up with it, Syaoran this time was the victim. The car slowly moved down a narrow path, it wasn’t really a car, more like a monorail. This car system was quiet.
None in the car talked, Sakura wouldn’t dare open her mouth, apparently because the for guards with Mac 145’s were there, and had there guns pointing in her general direction. Was she a prisoner or a allied person? The general took note of this and motioned the guns to be lowered.
“Sakura, are you ready to deal with the Commander and chief of the Republic union?”
“To be honest sir. I’m not ready to even live another second! This is all too much Sakura from Tomoda”
“Then please understand, we don’t want to hurt you at all, you don’t know how much is security is placed on this meeting because of your presence, hurting you is the last thing we want to attempt”
“I’ll try to understand, General…”
“…Redmondaky, 1st Army of the Russian Federation” the general finished.
“Yes sir” Sakura finished.
The car past a barrier, the left side was now exposed to a giant room, a hanger that housed the main runway’s entry, the doors were massive, big enough to let a C-130 go in without a problem. The place was massive, tanks, jets, bombers, and other military hardware were parked, every where.
The view suddenly disappeared as the car, entered another tunnel and slowed down to a stop. Eventually it stopped entirely in front was about a dozen guards with heavy machine guns. Sakura nervously waited for something bad to happen. Guns were here only hate, and she was surrounded by them.
“Sakura” the general spoke “Its time to make history”
Sakura walked out and with her friends walked down the hallway to the doors, the guards actually saluted Sakura. Sakura wondered if it was because she had a rank pin indicating she out-ranked them, or if it as because Sakura was the master of cards, their worst fears? She didn’t know, but she didn’t want to provoke them either. Those guns weren’t promising her peace of mind, Syaoran then whispered into her ear
“Whatever they do in there, I swear they won’t hurt you without a fight from me, I promise”
Sakura responded, “Thank you Syaoran-kun”
They reached the room entry. Solid wooden oak, heavy doors they could crush a kid. Two other officers opened the doors to reveal a warm room with a giant screen, it had a long table with 20 chairs, 18 a side, the room had simple phones, screens, and maps that been drawn over many times. Sakura and her squad proceed to sit at the table end closest to the door, facing the big screen.
The two officers then closed the door and stood guard on both sides. At the other then two small black doors open, in there came about 12 commanding Generals, Air chief generals, and Admirals. They were a range of militaries, European, and Asian. It was a equal spread. 1 of each force was represented of the 4 leading armies; Russia, China, England and Denmark, one seat remained.
“Attention, the CNC”
Everyone stood to attention, Sakura and her friends, sought fitting they did the same, regarding that they were just following the chain of command, or put simply, just doing what everyone else was doing.
"Major Sakura, Major Syaoran" Started the officer " Pavli Chekhov, President of the former Russian Federation, and now Commander and Chief of the Union of Soviet Federated Republics"
"A reborn Soviet Union?" Syaoran whispered to himself.
“Very much a metaphor of our only existence” The president stated. “You are standing at the table of the high command of this Soviet Union, our reality of a terrifying war that has completed the course of world destruction. We once before the beginning of this war, most of the countries here, were enemies, this war has forced was to united and to survive further attacks, and try to improve life for the people”
“Improve? Just sounds like you’re trying to make death less painful” Syaoran attacked.
“Syaoran-kun” Sakura whispered.
“Syaoran, your statement of metaphor is as always correct, life as we know it is getting harder and harder, as much as we try to help feed our population and keep them fit, its hard. The strain of so many people, out does our capability, so very much the township you witnessed, is an example of life anywhere in the free world.”
“Shall we begin this briefing?” A Chinese general spoke,
“Yes; Sakura, as a free and able bodied Citizen of the empire of Japan, an allied nation now inside the USFR, you are hereby conscripted into service of USFR Army, you have been listed as, Major, 1st divisionary army of the USFR”
“But I’m not a solder! I hate Guns!” Sakura panicked.
“But we don’t intend, to send you into frontline combat, at least for now your not” a English general spoke
“You are not going to be in combat roles, you instead are here for a reason” Chekhov stated “your skills as a Card captor are been called upon again, this time for good”
“I don’t understand” Sakura spoke,
“You are not aware of the events for the last 2 years?”
“No”
“Then we have much to teach you, Saku…Major”
A officer starts a film projector, it begins to show a map of the modern world, it looks different from that Sakura last saw in geography. Nearly two thirds of the modern world is under American control. Then the film had shown footage of CNN before its dismissal, the cities in American were been destroyed by there own government, tanks rolled about destroying the free world, the general turns of the film projector and turns on the screen projector, and points at the screen.
The general continued "President Harold Gerlkina wanted to use the powers for war, so instead of solving the worlds problems, he began to pressure America on to a path of war, calling himself to congress, and demanding emergency war powers, ultimate control in other words, his support of mostly extreme right wing parties won him that right. meanwhile the Sakura cards were been tested and used to aid America's new arsenal, president Gerlkina declared himself the king of the untied states for life.
He dismissed the government and began a global assault against the free world. He destroyed the east Asia with the water cards which were used to the nuclear weapons fired there, Europe was obliterated with every country burnt to the ground, those who surrendered became apart of the empire of the untied states. North Africa fought a battle, almost 50 million people died fighting, the new 'king' was on a genocide campaign to rule the world, the united states suffered as well, the food was rationed to the point of inhuman, rights abolished and anyone rebelling killed. This became what we tried to provent after the same events half a century ago”
The film showed a picture of a American death camp, it was massive, but it was frightening oblivious that like the Germans 59 years ago, the Americans had stooped a low, lower then even the Germans. To gassing any innocent people, not of any description, just picked off the streets and carted of to be killed.
“Also they awoke a threat, us. The Soviet Union was re-formed and grouped together the remnants that could come to our soil. We gave them a good fight, and threatened to end us all to destroy the empire he created. After being able to match the card’s power, we have been fighting stalemate with the Americans. The Americans know that our nuclear weapons are now the same as there’s, therefore we have now entered a point were if point were if one side invades the other, the event we call Armageddon, Nuclear war would kill every single being on this earth, and there would be no survival, it now a game of chess, the first to move would be his last, so it must be a wise one, this is why we rescued you, our move to is use you as a chance”
"So the soviet union is the good side?" said Syaoran "And how does this involve us?"
The other General spoke "Since Sakura and Syaoran were the ones who were responsible for the chain of events that followed been captured by the Americans, some of the people closest to you said if we could get you 5, you and Syaoran could use magic to change all this”
"But you said that America didn‘t tell anyone about our magic, so how could you possibly know?"
“We had help for some people close to you”
Sakura and Syaoran look at each other in confusion.
Two shadowy figures walked into the room. They wore a Dark maroon uniform instead, he rank pin on one of them was 2 golden oak leafs and gold star. The other was another rank pink for a Lieutenant. They were familiar in aura, too familiar, Sakura then opened her eyes just before he announced,
"May I present you with the two people responsible for your rescue, Lieutenant Li and Lieutenant Colonel Takashi" Said the General proudly.
"Meilin!!!" Sakura, Tomoyo and Syaoran spoke in surprise.
"Yamazaki???" Rika and Naoko exclaimed in confusion.
"Syaoran!!!!!!!!!" Melin shouted as she jumped on him "I knew you were alive!!"
"Hey! Hey!, get off Meilin"
Although a somewhat natural reaction, it’d have to wait, the high command staff were bewildered, but didn’t call the guards. When they settled down, Questions began to be asked.
"Meilin, how did you? and Yamazaki, Why?" Naoko asked confused.
"The Russians managed to contact us after the war began" Yamazaki answered,
"But why?" Tomoyo asked "you knew nothing about the 'Sakura cards' at all"
"Because I have hell to pay to what they’ve done to me”
Yamazaki revealed a scare on his forehead.
"Meilin instructed us the possible cards that she knew about which is helpful to us, and Yamazaki helped us with the rescue plans, been a local to the area provided help" the general finished.
“What cards?”
“Bring in the cards”
A door opened, a man with a briefcase came and almost slammed the case on the table in front of Sakura.
The president got up He turns back at the table and stares at the cards and then at Sakura.
"Sakura, those cards are important for the task we want you to do" he started to speak "the world depends on the 7 of you present, billions of people have died at the hands of the cards."
"We are very sure, that now with you and Sakura on our side we can end this" explained a general.
"What do you want us to do?" Syaoran asked.
"Prevent war this from ever happening”
"What do you want in return?" Tomoyo asked.
"To never hear of those cards, you must prevent the spy finding out about you"
"But!" Sakura interferes,
"Sakura?" a general speaks.
"We can't, do what you ask of us"
"How come!"
The room became silent, the room including the guards all looked at Sakura with intent of hearing a answer, Syaoran then knew what she meant and bowed his head, Tomoyo and the rest couldn’t think of what she meant and looked at Syaoran, then quickly gets the idea. The generals all look at each other, awaiting an answer a minute passes, then
"When I was captured, the Key and staff were destroyed, without it; I can not use the powers of the cards"
"Can Syaoran use the cards?" a admiral asked
"I can't, the cards have been signed and sealed by Sakura, i can't use them, Sakura would have to convert them back to Clow cards" Syaoran answers with his head down. “Also, I would need to have my own staff”
<
“Then, We’re done for…Sakura, are you sure of this?”
“As much as I don’t want say it, but…I don’t know”
